Seeds Creations is a social outreach arm of Sowing Seeds of Joy, Inc.-USA/KENYA established to bring sustainable income and resources to impoverish families in the Mbuyu wa Kusema Village of Malindi, Kenya. Men and women who possess sewing skills are trained, educated, equipped, empowered, and encouraged to become kingdom seamstresses who work with textiles and clothing, African fashion & design, fabrication and even metal casting to improve their lots in life. The gifts of these participants are versatile; therefore, they are challenged to add confidently to their dressmaking, gown design, handbag, sandal making, and costume design portfolios. We invite you to meet the designers, catch the vision, sow a seed, and invest in the transformation of a family, home, church, community, and nation.
Like many communities in the coastal region of Kenya, Mbuyu wa Kusema has battled with the problem of drug abuse especially among the youth. Hopelessness persist among the Mbuyu wa Kusema households. There is a glaring gap between where the community should be economically and where it is now. From social, economic, psychological and spiritual dimensions, there is need to help the Mbuyu wa Kusema community synergize its expertise, utilize available resources, engage in collective, connected, cooperative, and collaborative approaches/solutions and to commercialize opportunities made available to combat the ills of poverty.
